About

George Tsitsonis is a Greek-American writer and author of the recently released Achieving The Impossible – The Remarkable Story of Greece’s EURO 2004 Victory.

A life-long lover of football (soccer), George began writing about ‘the beautiful game’ as a freelancer in 2002. Since then he has had his work included in a number of publications including FourFourTwo, ESPN Soccernet, FIFA World, FIFA Magazine, Soccer International, Inside Soccer Magazine, 90 Minutes Magazine, Football Club Magazine, Greeksoccer.com, SoccerAge, and Goal.com. He has been a Senior Staff Writer for AGONAsport.com, the world’s biggest English-language website devoted to Greek sport, since 2016.

After realizing the distinct lack of English-language coverage of Greece’s amazing underdog triumph at EURO 2004, Tsitsonis began researching and writing about that sporting miracle in 2017. The result was his first book, Achieving The Impossible, released in June 2020 by Fair Play Publishing.

After nearly 20 years as a football/soccer writer, George is in the midst of writing his first fiction novel. He lives in Walpole, NH with his wife Sheila and two children.
